Tesla Motors designs and sells high performance Electric Cars. The Roadster Sports has been acclaimed as the first electric car to challenge the general view that EV's were golf buggies.
It acceleration and speed are of an enviable level for performance vehicles. Peak torque is available from 0kms which accounts for it's breathtaking acceleration of 0 - 100kph in under 4 seconds.
The official driving range of the Roadster is 350kms but Simon Hackett managed to drive his Roadster over 500kms on a single charge during the 10th Annual Global Green Challenge in Australia in 2009 setting a new EV range record.
The Roadster has a quick charge via a high power connecter time of 3.5 hours. This is usually installed in the owners home - a traditional American socked of 110 volts takes the recharge time to 16 hours.
